Historic Mount Pleasant alongside Rock Creek Park in Washington, DC

Specialty?  Motivational Speaker on the much feared and often misunderstood junior varsity squad of TeamHalfwayThere.com/Spokes, Etc.

Favorite discipline and/or part of an AR?  Post-race beer drinking competition.

Why you race?  Obviously for the celebrity status and lucrative sponsorship deals.

How you came to THT?  By mistake since I find myself on this team rather accidentally and besides I had nowhere else to go after I was cut from my last squad for winning too much.

Favorite pieces of gear?  The towrope of my nearest teammate.  My personal bike mechanic, Ryan McGuire, at Spokes, Etc. in Alexandria.

How you came to AR?  I’m serving a lifetime ban of self-imposed exile from all road races and triathlons.

Movie?  GoPro footage from my latest adventure.

Musician/band?  My teammate Jared when he sings the entire Bodyguard soundtrack while paddling at 4 in the morning during races.

Quote running through my head the night before a race?  Somewhere out there someone is training when you are not.  If you race him, he will win. ~ Tom Fleming

Quote running through my head during a race?  I look into their eyes, shake their hand, pat their back, and wish them luck, but I am thinking, I am going to bury you. ~ Seve Ballesteros

Something you’ve learned through AR that you take with you beyond the race course?  Adventure Racing has taught me that hard work and a positive attitude, combined with trust in yourself and your teammates, inevitably breeds confidence and success.   As a result of these challenging experiences, I am able to re-center myself and better prioritize and communicate what’s truly important and that has resulted in making me a better person in every aspect of my life.  OR quite simply…ride fast and take chances
