Why do you race? Every race where I dig deeper and go harder than I ever thought possible and overcome insurmountable obstacles as a team I learn something about myself.
How did you come to AR? I was drinking beer and watching Primal Quest Utah with a friend and wanted to do something like that. Three months later I was in the hospital after my first attempt at a 9-hour being forcibly re-hydrated and I’ve been hooked ever since.
How did you come to THT? I met Shane at some Odyssey races back when we were just the two-man team Interstellar Overdrive. He got us involved in Tuesday nights and not long after I was racing with TeamHalfwayThere.
What do you like about THT? Like the larger community of AR TeamHalfwayThere is a tight-knit group of incredible athletes who have become some of my best friends. If I’m going to go out and do stupid stuff in the woods, I want to do it with them.
Something you’ve learned through AR that you take with you beyond the race course? Don’t ever stop when you don’t think you can go on or don’t think you can do something. You are capable of so much more than you can possibly imagine, it’s just going to take a little (or a lot) of suffering to get there.
Specialty? Mumbling. Sleep-Biking. Having to pee every 10 minutes while racing.
Favorite piece of gear? MacPac Amp Race 25

Favorite race that you’ve participated in and why? Raid the North Extreme 2011 – Epic long treks through untouched wilderness. Breathtaking scenery. Mountain bike legs with many thousands of feet of climbing combined with miles and miles of world-class singletrack. Snow glissading. Paddling narrow mountain lakes for miles and miles. Amazing staff and volunteers.
