About

Our Team roster is large - several of us are in the military, and all of us have to balance training, working, racing, and all the costs associated with these addicting hobbies. The large roster allows us the flexibility to have a Teamhalfwaythere presence in multiple races.

Adventure Racing Team

Teamhalfwaythere.com is a Northern Virginia/Washington DC area team drawing on a strong and diverse foundation of military servicemembers, civilian professionals, and avid athletes. Many of our members proudly don uniforms and are often deployed across the world. We take advantage of our individual and collective backgrounds, focusing on solid decision making and teambuilding skills to assist the team during the plethora of challenges encountered while racing.

Teamhalfwaythere.com debuted in the 2007 season at the Hampton Road Adventures Tidewater Traverse, an ambitious 18 hour race that started at night as our first adventure race. We earned our knocks the hard way, and decided this definitely was for us!  By the end of the season, we ended up 3rd in the 2007 HRA Series in the 2/3/4 person male category, and got a taste of standing on the podium.   We learned a lot in that first year of racing.  Those experiences, solid winter training, and the recruitment of some stellar individuals set us up for success in the 2008 season.

2008 was incredible!  As the team roster filled out with extremely capable individuals we made the leap to the premiere coed class for all our races, often fielding two competitive teams.  Ultimately, we finished 18th and 24th in the Checkpoint Tracker Series and 19th and 36th at the prestigious USARA Nationals competition.  Again, our taste for the podium was wetted and we were able to consistently place in the top 5 coed teams.  Meanwhile at a local level, we competed in multiple MTB, trail running and orienteering events.

2009 is upon us.  Drawing from our recipe for success, we have trained harder and selected even more stellar athletes to become an integral part of our team.  Look out - here we come!!!

When we are not racing or training, we have real jobs like everyone else. Jobs that take the majority of our time. Time we have to balance between family commitments, professional obligations, and a burning desire to compete in adventure racing and its related disciplines.

We run. We bike. We paddle. We navigate.
